1962 – Embodiment of Courage
Yogiraj received a Certificate of Courage for repeatedly diving to a depth of 40ft to the bottom of the Nainital Lake to render assistance in a drowning accident on 18th September 1962. He accompanied these repeated dives without the support of an oxygen cylinder. It was his mastery of Pranayama so early in his youth that allowed him to perform such a feat.

After Sherwood College, Yogiraj joined the Fergusson college, Pune. A champion swimmer, he distinguished himself as a dedicated body builder and boxer in the feather weight category. In 1965, he met with a motorcycle accident, where he broke the meniscus of his left leg which greatly impacted his swimming career, but after recovery, he slowly and steadily practiced strengthening his leg kick in the water. It would never be the same but he persevered long hours. In 1966/67, in Fergusson college, Yogiraj was awarded, the winning trophy of “The Fergusson Shree” title, in body beautiful competition. Then, in 1969/70, he won the “Khandekar Challenge” trophy of the individual championships for the best all round swimmer in 100, 200 and 400 mtrs free style swimming. And the last one, he won the “Veer Savarkar” prize for coming 1st in military studies.

Held at United Nations International Headquarters in Manhattan, New York, United States.
May 10, 2013 – Yogiraj was bestowed honorary title at rare Spiritual Coronation
On 10th May 2013, Yogiraj was honoured as the Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Ratna and was bestowed with the title of ‘Yog Martand’ by the Brahman sansad of Varanashi. The Brahman sansad of Varanashi is the highest authority on the Sanatan Dharma since it is established by the four main Jagatguru Shakaracharyas of Shringeri, Jagannath Puri, Dwarika and Badrikashram jyotirpeeth respectively.
